I heard on the TV this morning that it was International Women's Day today.
I will be glad when tomorrow comes and we go back to International Men's Day for the remaining 364.

What TV was that?
On the BBC, every day is ... well, if not Women's Day, then at least Anti-Men day.

Of course radio still has Woman's Hour - a whole hour(!) which could otherwise be devoted to the educational "Marxism for All, "Venezuela - a Shining Success" (a long-running soap), and the BAFTA-winning biopic "Corbyn's our Man", although the programme controllers at the Beeb are known to want something a bit left-wing.

Funnily enough, wimmins hour isn't the heart of the rot. I don't often hear it, but on occasions when I do they seem perhaps less relentlessly anti-male than the Radio 4 norm. There's certainly some man-eater material, but it's not the whole programme.
The most amusing is when they have some interviewee who, despite the interviewer's best endeavours, insists that she hasn't been treated unfairly, isn't oppressed as a woman.

Re: International Women's Day
Oh for Mrs Dale's Diary - by today's Beeb standards irredeemably right-wing and middle-class; anyone remember her "I'm rather worried about Jim"?
The much lamented Round the Horne used to take the micky in a spoof called Mrs Dire's Dreary where Mrs Dire was played by Kenneth Williams! How they got away with the innuendo - as with much else when homosexual acts were illegal - is a mystery.
