Moth balls joke

#412113

Postby richfool » May 15th, 2021, 11:59 am

Another thread about moths, reminded me of a joke I heard when I was a young lad, but can no longer remember the details of, only the punchline. I think it involved a discussion with a Chemist about something he did, or didn't sell, or have in stock, - the details of which I can't remember. The punchline was something close to: "Well moths don't have balls, but we sell them". Can anyone remember the joke and put me out of my misery?

I think you meant to say:

Can anyone remember the joke and tell me.

That is, unless you do want to end it all.

Well, yes, tell me will suffice.

I did find the following snippet when Googling but failed to get to the actual text.
...the little boy whose father sent him to the pharmacy to buy some moth balls. ... The boy replied, "Dad, you know good and well moths don't have balls...

Thank you Chris. That was closer, but wasn't the one I recollect. That involved a conversation with the chemist (as they were called in those days!). It was a question or argument about whether he sold a particular something (else), and the punchline was the retort by the chemist.

Of course there's the one where the boy asks the (male) chemist

"Do you have cotton wool balls?"

to which the reply is

"What do you think I am? A teddy bear?"
