Interesting article, despite it dating from late 2015.

Even more interesting is that after the article suggested a market cap of £220m was seriously toppy, the current market cap is £400m, with Geoff Wilding still owning 33%, or a stake worth £133m, from £90m 18 months ago.

Probably a reflection of technical buying more than sound research and "investment" planning.
Should be interesting to see what happens when the wheels fall off..

Sounds a bit like the Man Utd takeover a few years ago - no-one could work out how that could be allowable either.

Came across this old thread while looking at some other stuff and thought it was interesting to note that since the above, the market cap has been as high as £1billion, and still stands at £600m today, even after a serious 12 month drop.

Not a bad return on a £100k investment, Geoff!

I have held VCP since before Wilding appeared on the scene and my original shares cost me nothing in view of the div. paid to enable him to collect a large stake; none paid since. I offloaded my original holding to 6 family members after the big drop as a takeover seems likely at some point, negating any AIM benefit and having read that AIM tax relief is likely to disappear anyway, and bought some more in my ISA. I would be interested to know what any of you think of their recent results as I become somewhat Dorisian when trying to analyse balance sheets. The directors paint a rosy picture but the market seems somewhat less enthusiastic.

Unfortunately Geoff didn't post his method and trades in real time, so it's a bit OT for this board, isn't it?

The original post (by myself) was from quite a long time ago and there was a link to an analysis of VCP ( link now defunct). The article wasn't about trading but on how one person saw an opportunity to personally benefit from a situation.

Basically, businessmen (opportunist) comes along to help a family run business at a board members request. The Vic was a family owned business poodling along going nowhere. Sone of the family wanted to get their hands on cash...especially the younger ones. Internal arguments followed by the strop resignation of the MD (who really cut his nose off to spite his face...not reported in the press). Businesman cuts deal with family....eventually ending up significantly profiting for a relatively small financial risk. Businessman goes on acquisition trail, buying up all relevant businesses..share price starts to defy gravity. Where will it all end up?
