The tallest snake in the world

Editing standards at the BBC continue to soar toward new lows. This one somehow got through:

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/uk-engl ... l-46837225

"Officer Clara Scully, who went to collect the snake, said at 13ft long (almost 4m) "it would stand almost as tall as a giraffe".

Yeah, right. If it went in for pole dancing, maybe, or maybe if it stood on its little itsy-bitsy tippy-toes and waved its long snakey fingers high into the air. Until further notice, it's shorter in stature than the average household cat. Got that?

Average household cat? I would imagine that all snakes are shorter in stature than all household cats - unless those cats haven't got any legs. :D

Maybe, maybe not, apparently the giant anaconda (Eunectes murinus) can grow to a girth of 3 feet so knocking on a foot tall which might challenge some small cats.
