A BBC presenter introducing an item about the BAFTAS referred to the science fiction movie Arrival as a SKY-fi movie.

To me this is not just wrong but ugly too.

Thoughts?

As a side issue BAFTAS,BAFTAs or Baftas

Was this spoken or in the written form? If the former, Sci-Fi would appear to be acceptable modern day usage. Are you saying SKY was used in place of Sci and, in which case, in what form? If spoken as SKY I'd agree with you.

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts ("BAFTA") awards ceremonies is often, I believe, abbreviated as BAFTAs or Baftas. BAFTAS looks wrong to me.
