Re: Websites that tell you that you have just logged in
It's only happened to me with financial websites.
There was the time when I received one from A J Bell about repeated failed attempts to login, when I hadn't done so.
Naturally a cause for concern. It turned out to be one of my children attempting to login to her child ISA.
I'm willing to accept the irritation.
FWIW, they associate a browser and IP with accounts. If they remain the same, they are less likely to email. Are you possibly using a VPN or, god forbid, a mobile device using free WiFi.

Re: Websites that tell you that you have just logged in
I posted after getting one from Lebara (mobile phone provider)
I never use free Wi-Fi for anything financial
this reminds of me when I first had a BlackBerry that had Bluetooth, I was in a car park, switched it on, and it picked up chat (presumably from another car in the car park)
incidents like that make a big impression
PS I only use a VPN on my phone -

I sometimes get one from Paypal, recently they say I have logged on from Dulwich, or Blackburn. Clever that I can visit these places without moving from our house.

I always find it odd where they think your ISP is based
I quite often visit Dublin

As others have said, this is to miss the point! You might get one when you haven't just logged in then you may well be very grateful for it.
But I agree, they are damned annoying.

I've just logged in from a different computer? Eh.. Have I?
Have I really?
Or has my IP address changed and you've decided to try and panic me? Or my browser updated?
Is it any wonder "2 F**n Awkward" is a term used in our office?

Google Maps usually put me in Cheshire these days. And not even somewhere in Cheshire I've ever visited, or even (so far as I can recollect) passed through.
In the past I've been geolocated in places as distant as Moscow and Minneapolis.
Of course those that send email alerts are rarely connected with the sites they purport to be.

I find it a lor easier to delete a couple of emails than my friend did to contact all he FB friends telling them not to click the link she'd sent, reset her passwords, etc etc because she didn't know until 2 days later that someone had hacked her account when she was on holiday.

Yes, I'm also very happy to receive text from my bank informing me that I've just made a bank transfer and that I should contact them if it wasn't me.
