I don't think the problem will be solved unless a tax is imposed on products packed in plastic ,thereby placing the cost of disposal and recycling on the purchaser. After all, you don't pay hefty tobacco tax unless you buy cigarettes or tobacco, so non-smokers can avoid it.


I notice that in supermarkets, loose vegetables cost 50% more per kg. than packaged vegetables, which exacerbates the problem.
