Subscripton renewals (in this case, the AA)

Usual cautionary tale of subscription renewals. Had my AA renewal come in; it’s usually about £130 and last year was £135/yr. This year, they were proposing £175 (+30%). Hmmm... checking online: £135 “for new members”. Rang up and asked nicely and discussed a bit, and without too much prompting was offered £131. Said TYVM and paid on the spot. I suppose it’s caveat emptor and if you don’t ask you don’t get, but really: +30% was trying it on.... (to put it mildly)

Alternatively, a CAMRA subscription can be yours from £25!
