  7. Arrive

  10. Walk around another dozen shops
  11. Identify range of colours of clothing
  12. Walk around the first dozen shops and try on several items of clothing
  13. Identify none fit. Too small, too big, or simply both
  14. Go back to second dozen shops
  15. Find clothing that fits.
  16. Clothing is to expensive
  17. Convince husband to pay for clothing
  18. Go home

Thank god, my wife doesn’t like shopping. She still buys stuff, but all online so at least it’s only money being spent and not time!

You misssed out item 178.... wife finally decides that clothing is "wrong size / wrong colour / wrong fashion / wrong fit / etc etc etc" and informs husband to fill up with fuel to return clothing

Men -

1. Find item of clothing in bottom half of drawer/back of wardrobe that you've not seen for years but still like very much
2. Wear constantly as if recently bought as new (possibly rotate with a maximum of one other piece of favourite clothing...)
3. Ensure previous item of clothing is washed, ironed, and placed in bottom half of draw/back of wardrobe for future re-discovery.....

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

Sorry

21. Inform Governor of BoE that interest rates may need to be raised to staunch demand
22. Collect take away on drive home after a hard days work shopping
23. Run bath for wife, pour wine and turn TV on for wife.

When anyone asks me when is her birthday I always like to say October (all of it)

Vaguely on-topic.....

A man will spend £2 on something worth £1 that he needs
A woman will spend £1 on something worth £2 that she doesn't need

Please see Step 3 -

3. Ensure previous item of clothing is washed, ironed, and placed in bottom half of draw/back of wardrobe for future re-discovery.....

The plan is that you're always wearing the last, or the last couple if you're one of those flamboyant types, of re-discovered items....

This multi-year, fool-proof plan is sometimes spoilt slightly by people buying admittedly nice items of new clothing for birthdays or Christmas, but as a mainstay process for man-based atire, it's proved itself useful for quite some time, and in fact any new uninvited clothing, so long as you like it, can actually add to the excitement the next time you re-discover something, as it adds extra time into the whole process, so the 'Hey, that's where that went!' surprise is actually often enhanced by the longer periods between discovery....

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

Men.

1, Go to shop, buy 3 pairs of jeans. On way out see sweat shirt, polo shirt, fleece or rugby shirt that is half decent. buy 3. Leave shop.

2 Go to shoe shop buy a pair of proper shoes and 2 pairs of trainers. Leave shop

Repeat every couple of years.

3, Refuse to go anywhere where jeans and a top aren't considered acceptable attire. If there is a need to be smart wear proper shoes instead of trainers.

This has worked perfectly for the last 30 years although I do have a smart suit for weddings and funerals.

My system is simpler. Wear proper shoes only and don’t waste money on trainers.

The trainers are for situations where the proper shoes (aka sandals) have shortcomings.

Hence, cycling, where pressure from bike pedals will tend to break less-robust footwear.

And times like deep mud where sandals would leave the feet sliding around within them.

Note - more types of footwear required. Very open (but alas less comfy in my old age) sandals for the beach, where bits of shingle need to come out as easily as they come in. Big boots for crampons. And black shoes for when I'm in a concert. All in all, footwear is more complex than other clothing.

 Nooooo ... I have a pair of shoes (Doc Martins shoes for life ... now in their fifth year. Good for work. When they wear out I get another pair for £35.00) And I have one pair of trainers. Nike Air, now in their sixth year and looking shockingly good) Spend more on higher quality means it lasts longer and reduces trips to the shops quite dramatically. So my total spend on shoes for the last 5 years has been £43 per annum. The sneeky bit is to buy maroon trainers and brown shoes as these will work with black, blue, cream or brown trousers/jeans :)

Just for info for others if you know already, but I believe they don't sell new 'for life' shoes any more, although they are honouring any previously-bought ones with a replacement of 1460 or 1461 shoes -

It's war I tell you ... war
Still I can't say they haven't done what it says on the tin - I can get through a pair of shoes in 6 months, mostly because of driving. I did look at the 1460/1 but went for the shoes for life simply based on comfort and value.
Still have to be the best lifetime purchase I've ever made and look smart when polished.

My suit collection. They all hang there as I retain, despite the improbability, an irrational belief that I might, somehow, fit into them again. At least I do not outgrow shoes.
