Whoopee, only 72 hours to go and the buggers will leave us in peace again. My inbox is crammed with useless special offers - 15% off oil filters at Euro Car Parts, or 20% off a brand of tyres I've heard of (at BlackCircles, naturally.)

25% off a freezing December ferry trip to Belgium, or 18% off a Currys end-of-line TV that everyone else has been selling at a discount since last March.

What a con. Roll on Monday.

What on earth are you doing reading your emails? Shouldn't you be in a department store somewhere clutching your dream coat/computer/plastic toy in one hand whilst battling it out with the three thousand other shoppers who also slept on the pavement overnight so as to be first in the queue to buy whatever cr*p was advertised as a Black Friday only discount?

Well they did have a Black Wednesday event. It wasn't popular even though things were selling at discounts of more than 20% and I don't think that they want to repeat it.

Or Boxing Day, depending on how you look at it. As usual I will be buying no presents this season. Bah, humbug to the lot of it.
