I suspect my answer is too simple but 'iciest' is the only word with 3 vowels (the others have 2).

Or 'pairs' because it's the only one with an odd number of letters. (Or a prime number of letters would do just as well.)

And I suspect that with a bit of effort, I could find similarly simple reasons for all of the rest. Or possibly all but one - in which case that one would be a candidate for being the true odd one out...

The question says "this" sentence, and the punctuation makes it even clearer that you're not referring to the gibberish that follows it.

My first thought is the word "sentence", being the only word of more than one syllable.
