This recent bit of the NYT crossword is a thing of beauty :
According to the Twitter thread I found it in, apparently they have some form in this, particularly on election day where they have had eg BOBDOLE ELECTED or CLINTON ELECTED in 1996 and "albert gore" and "george bush" in 2000.

Also somewhat recursive - if you answer 71 down with a famous Star Wars quote, it declares Star Trek to be the better franchise. If you've never heard of this quote, you're probably not a Star Wars fan - so it will declare Star Wars the better franchise!
