I have edited out some of the markings on item no. 4. What do you think it is?

It is not a theodolite or any other form of surveying instrument.

Some kind of light meter for photography? Not a bog standard one though.

LOL, the review claims: "The Pentax Spotmeter V was used by Ansel Adams when he was developing the zone metering system." Beh!
