One for the Madhatter

The other day, we had a snipe in the garden. Not sure why. I'm assuming that it was the weather.

Similarly, we had a confused looking lesser spotted woodpecker in the garden. It had the look of a bird that thought it should be somewhere else. It had been very windy that day, so I'm guessing it gone blown off course.

Just sayin'

I am most envious of your snipe. Not sure I have ever seen one.

Also your lesser spotted wossname. I saw a great spotted wossname in some woods last year, but on looking in my books to be sure of identifying it, they said that the lesser spotted variety was pretty rare.

Mostly just seeing blackbirds and robins in the past week, and great and blue tits last week.

Yes, the cold will do that if you don't wrap up nice and warm.

In the last few days a definite sighting of a goldfinch, a wren, and yesterday a Brimstone butterfly (they hibernate, apparently).

Also frogspawn.

Today just a starling.
