Or was it a photo of his leg?
Perhaps it is time for a renaissance of cigarette cards. Like Wills' "Famous Cricketers" and "Ships and Sailors" series, how about one of "Notable Amputations"?

Another spokesman gave a more prosthetic excuse, claiming that this was an artificially made substitute - modelled on the man's original missing leg.
