This is weird. Or has my brain glitched (again?).
From 9th September:
Terminally ill man sets UK wheelchair speed record
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-humber-54094818
Today, 2 October, this story:
Zef Eisenberg: Maximuscle founder dies in speed bid
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-54356616
Yet, this morning, I could swear I originally read the above story on the BBC website - details of location, crash of ex-Top Gear presenter Richard Hammond etc. But with the headline details and photograph from the FIRST story of that man killed while attempting a new land speed record in an electric wheelchair.
Can anyone confirm this? Or did I imagine it all?

Re: Glitch?
I'm confused too. The man in the first story wasn't killed attempting the record. He's terminally ill but he managed near-record speeds in practice and plans a proper attempt. Did it say something different before?

Well, who knows? I'm totally confused now.
My point was that, when I originally looked at BBC News in the morning, I thought I had read a story saying the man in the wheel chair had been killed, at that location, attempting a world speed record in his wheelchair - I thought 67mph was mentioned. I remember(?) looking at the picture and thinking "That looks dangerous".
Later in the day I saw the item (the same one!) of the second man killed in a Porsche at the same location - all the other details (Hammond crash etc.) the same. So now I don't know if my brain somehow invented all this or it was an early editing error on the BBC News site (e.g. taking the details from the first story and modifying them - but surely they would do this off-line?).
I was wondering if anyone else saw this - if it even existed - and so can reassure me I am not losing it.

Re: Glitch?
I agree. I woke at about 5am and turned the radio on and heard a similarly confused series of news reports.
I'd totally forgotten until I read your post, which brought back all my semi-sleep confusions at the contradictions I vaguely noted as I dozed until 8.30am ish.
