Okay I'll kick this off-topic.
I believe in punishing Serjeants, especially those at Arms, if they misbehave.
I think the mace should be part of any uncivilised nation's system. I also think the mace should be part of the resources of schools for maintaining indiscipline.
For many reasons, including S&M (especially good if you are a Sergeant Major), alternative considerations and deference.
