Have lived in south west village in France part time for 15 years.

Its a great existence and gentle way of life with lovely friendly people.

However, do not expect to buy a house and get your money back. There is a
big backlog of houses for sale in our area. They don't sell quickly and the prices
are not great. Good to buy but not to sell. Will it change? Maybe, but not in the
short to medium term.

The upside is the lifestyle.

My robin, on the other hand, has reappeared today, along with blue, great, and long tailed tits. And blackbirds.

Like Piccadilly Circus today in fact, only without the pigeons but with a robin, blue, great, and long tailed tits. And blackbirds.

I took some photos yesterday and saturday as part of a couple of running events I was involved in. In both locations, we had two of the most tame robins I've seen for a while.

Mine came back to finish up the small amounts of suet pellets I had put out for him, but is not yet as bold as yours.

I have moved the food tray closer to the kitchen window, and intend moving it right outside so that I can top up the food just by sticking an arm out. I had got to that stage long before now in previous seasons, and it has several advantages.

Being that close to the house with me visibly moving about seems to deter some bigger birds. I don’t get wet when topping up. Often even if it rains the food remains drier as it is often sheltered depending on wind direction.

Has also allowed some very close pictures.

There is, however, a disadvantage. Sometimes they seem to stake out the kitchen, and loiter just outside the window waiting for me to top up.

While they cannot irritatedly consult watches or mutter “what time d’yer call this then?” they can certainly give the impression of doing so.
