Free markets, free democracy?

Interesting how many folk want free markets, caring not about HFT and similar as in this thread from the Sanctuary:

But many folk don't like free democracy when that process elects someone they don't like or leads to Brexit and similar events

Is there an hypocrisy in having one view for the markets and then not liking when freedom creates a political decision that you don't like.

One of the arguments of folk who don't like Trump and Brexit put forward is that the electorate were lied to. Is this any different to what goes on in a free market.

Another argument is that markets exist between sophisticated folk who are well aware of the risks whereas elections are decided by less sophisticated folk who are not aware of what their votes will do. Although I have yet to find a free market participant who would not take the opposite trade to someone they consider a fool suggesting all market participants are not that sophisticated.

I find it an interesting thing to think about.
