Going international is always good IMHO.

Best wishes

Mark.

Hi Gadge, I would be interested to know the rationale behind you selling part of IPE and NCHY. (I assume for the second one, you meant NCYF - CGS New City High Yield?)

Also, when you said you renivested proceeds into Investec Diversified Income, did you mean HDIV?

I decided to reduce risk on those High Yield bond ITs by holding a bit less. I do love the massive Divs they generate though.
I also flogged off Shires Income.

I did not mean HDIV but I can see why your'e asking that.

I did indeed put the proceeds into Investec Diversified Income Fund (despite the fund holding rip off by HL and Barclays) because i liked the manager and the overall defensiveness of his holdings. It is now my single biggest holding in all ISAs and SIpps.

I did and it would be helpful if they stopped renaming it :D

Hi Gadge,

Thanks for the reply and I note your reasoning behind the reduction in your holdings of the bond IT's.

Re the sale of SHRS (Shires IT), would I be right to think it was for much the same reason (i.e. that it holds bonds as well as equities)?

Disc: I hold SHRS.

The largest holdings in my ISA are MYI and MCT, both primarily for the dividend yield. MYI also for its defensive nature and exposure to EM's as opposed to the US.

Gadge wrote:Sale of Shires Income was probably not necessary but I wanted a large holding of Investec.

It was partly to keep things simple and leave me with one less thing to monitor.

Holding Shires would not keep me awake. Indeed, I quite like the IT. I may well buy it again sometime.

Thanks Gadge.

In fact I had pondered over Shires because of its fixed interest holdings, but opted to retain it and ditch Temple Bar instead. Ironically, Temple Bar has long been one of my favourites, but it had a lower yield, recent poor performance and I didn't like its large holdings of banks, Including Lloyds, Barclays and RBS, as well as HSBC. Whereas Shires yield was over 5%. I hold HSBC separately.

Gadge, re your recent posts above, I am keeping PRU and I hold CPG already. I am sticking with NG., though am about 23% down on that one.

CPG and NG have US exposure. Pru has Asian Pacific exposure.
