Just noticed this from 26 June:

Harry Markowitz, Father of Modern Portfolio Theory, Dies at 95

Bloomberg

Shared 1990 Nobel Prize in Economics for investment analysis. He ‘dramatically changed the way nearly all wealth is managed’

Yes, he did some pretty impressive theoretical stuff (which I struggle to understand). However, his key achievement is only "management of wealth". I am even more impressed by the reported death, in the same Bloomberg link, of the co-creator of the lithium-ion battery John Goodenough who recently died at age 100. Most people in the world live without active wealth management, but few have not been impacted by the invention of Li-ion batteries.

The Bloomberg obituary is behind a paywall, but you can read about him here

PS without recourse to portfolio theory, BATG, Legal & General Battery Value-Chain ETF is up about 20% YTD
