Re: BBC$ documentary on the history of Raleigh
Yes it was an excellent potted history of the creation of an English family engineering company with its global success. And how its UK manufacturing ceased. It also covered the human side of both employees, customer and its promoters.

Re: BBC$ documentary on the history of Raleigh
I think it was around the year 2000 when I had one of the last, if not the last UK-built 'Raleigh Special Products' built-to-measure, hand-built road bike, with titanium frame - very light; the whole road-ready bike being under 8kg I think.
Cost me somewhere around £2.5-3k at the time.
Due to life getting in the way it didn't even clock-up 1000 miles before I dismantled it and put it in storage, where it has remained, forgotten, for the last 16-17yrs.
