Bad Wind

#52027

Postby neversay » May 8th, 2017, 1:46 pm

I live in a place with a permanent headwind, whatever the direction of travel. On my ride though, I was wondering if you more serious cyclists adjust your training routes depending on wind speed/direction. For example, if it's (say) a North Wind do you an East-West route? or head into the wind on the way out and have an easier return journey?

With a permanent head wind it does not matter. When the universe is out to get you it will get you.

But with a prevailing wind I start out heading down wind. This limits the temptation to cut the ride short. Also my prevailing wind comes from over a lake.

Thanks for your replies. I see the sense in both options and, I guess, it also answers my question in that there's no orthodoxy one way or another. Itch scratched!
