You discount possible economic effects, which I consider to be of practical interests.

A general AI at the level of a top high school student would be able to replace a vast number of workers, most of whom are a good deal worse than top high school students.

Yes, any job that requires some computation but does not require manual skills can be done by current AI. These range from most GP jobs, much administration, a lot of teaching, local government, etc.

Then there are jobs that require computation & movement, such as shelf stacking which can be done with wheeled robots as Amazon is doing.

Then there are jobs that require biped movement & as of now that is not possible, but I expect it will happen quickly, say within 5 years.

However, to progress with science, technology, medicine will require PhD level abilities & we are there yet from what I have seen.
