My local (the clue is in my username) county library service normally offers access to ancestry and findmypast free to users in the libraries. During covid19, they have very thoughtfully and commendably (noting we can't get out and the libraries are closed anyway, and it's lovely to have something to keep us busy!) made it available for home users (you have to be a registered library user with a library number and login etc):

"In response to the Covid-19 situation we are working with our suppliers to improve access to resources from your home and during this period you can use Ancestry and Find My Past free from home."

. A very nice gesture.

Thanks for the tip. I've found someone else who's done a family tree that intersects with mine. I'd always hoped someone else would do the work.

Try also searching externally for family trees held at https://www.geni.com/. I've found at least two sets, without registering there. Not all wholly accurate (unsurprisingly and not a criticism) but plenty to work with.

Also, for those new to this, https://www.gov.uk/research-family-history, https://www.freebmd.org.uk/ and https://www.freecen.org.uk/ can be of assistance.

I'm sure there are more available without the need to supply personal detail, remember to cancel subscriptions etc.

Along with FreeBMD and FreeCen, I find FreeReg an increasingly useful free source of baptism, marriage and burial information taken from parish records...
