SEGRO Placing and Retail Offer

#317475

Postby meldrewlives » June 11th, 2020, 10:48 am

Done in a very great hurry. SEGRO management claims they respected the pre-emption rights of, in particular, retail shareholders. I do NOT agree given the timetable.

Seems like you had to be signed up to an outfit called Primary Bid.

I haven't subscribed to the offer. But I have joined priamary bid.

PB seems quite a good idea and certainly an improvement upon the intitutional placings of a few years ago.

The SEGRO email was the first that I recieved from them.

More on primary bid here.

They certainly did respect the retail shareholders which is more than can be said for most of the recent placings. I was not signed up to Primary Bid but that was my fault not theirs. The whole idea of placings is to cut costs and time so I have no complaints. However the placing seems only to be for an additional 7% of shares so the dilution is not huge in any case. Given the chance, I might well have participated, though.

Just in case there are any other "foreigners" interested:

Registration for PB is only possible with a UK address.

First I heard of Primary Bid was via this thread - nothing via my existing shareholdings.

And just a 2 hour window even if one had been informed.

You also need to have funds readily available via a debit card and you are obviously unable to do a deal via Primary Bid using funds within an ISA or a SIPP.

I signed up to primary bid recently, but have not subscribed yet.
