is it possible to copy a thread so as to have available at a future time?
I dont mind if it needs to be a hard copy orjust a screen copy...just available
I have tried 'bookmarking' the 'address' but after some time the thread disappears and only a blank page is available
copying ad paste doesnt arrive with page fitting
there must be a way...but so far...........

Go to the very first page of a thread, and then above the red lettered 'Forum rules' section, there will be a hyperlink in the form of the thread title.
That URL will always navigate back to the first page of a given thread.
Here's the URL for this thread, gained using the above process, so you can check if you want to give it a go -

Similar to the above, it's possible to gain a URL for a particular post in a thread by copying the 'RE: - xxxxx' hyperlink above a particular reply post, so again, here is a copy of this reply URL taken using that second procedure, so you can have a play with that process too -

Windows:
Snip tool to create a jpeg file which can exist standalone as a file or can be pasted into a document ( Libre Office Word equivalent for example) and saved as a pdf file.
I just bookmark anything of interest and file it in a folder...never had a problem going back to posts created in the "early days" of TLF.

Re: copy to keep a thread
I've had links no longer working but they all involved posts and threads that had been moved through moderation. It doesn't happen so much now as people have become more used to where to post, resulting in fewer posts being moved. C.

Another way, when working with a full fat browser, is to open the options menu and “save page as”, which creates a .html file (that will, when clicked on, reopen in your browser, appearing exactly as you originally viewed it, but from that file on your disc & not from the web).

Just tried that
WHAT a mess it made
it copies all the menu system (and reveals it all)
