Transferring funds using ATM
DAK please if possible to use an ATM to transfer funds from one account to another (same bank and branch, debit cards for each account)?
(I don't want to have to make a special trip into town without knowing in advance.)

Re: Transferring funds using ATM
No that's not a feature I've ever seen on an ATM.
One thing that may be useful is that with some banks you can pay cash into your account at a Post Office by using your debit card. The cash could have come from an ATM or by a prior withdrawal at the PO.
Scott.

Normally this would be done with online banking, and happen immediately. Do you not have this sort of access?

I'm guessing you don't want to go into your bank, as otherwise you could do this at the counter. Some banks have self-service machines within the branch.
For example https://www.barclays.co.uk/help/payment ... h-payment/ includes:
You can use our self-service machine to pay in cash and cheques, view your balance and transfer money between accounts. You can also make payments to other people and pay your bills. All you need is your Barclays debit card and the details of who you’re paying.
I think some ATMs also permit one to transfer funds between linked accounts. Are the accounts you mention linked?

I experimented for transfer. The ATM has the facility to do so but wouldn't work for me. i think my Bank has to change some settings on my accounts to enable the ATM to be used.

As I suggested, the accounts may need to be linked. Is the receiving account a third party, which is unlikely to suit you, or are they both the same person's accounts?

Almost the same person's account: one is a joint account.
I shall be in town later this week so shall pop into the bank and ask if the ATM can be enabled to accommodate.

Re: Transferring funds using ATM
I'd doubt it. The only accounts I have ever had which could do this was a combined/linked current and savings accounts. And even that would only work at the holding bank's own ATMs. Unless the accounts were linked in this way, I doubt you could enter the secondary account number at an ATM.

When I experimented, both account numbers displayed on the ATM screen. I selected the receiving account and only then did the ATM refuse the service.

Re: Transferring funds using ATM
Update.
The answer to my op is yes, it is possible to transfer funds from one account to another using ATM. Or rather, it is possible with Lloyds Bank ATMs.
The ATM offers the service but the procedure won't work until a bank clerk/teller has set up the linking arrangement which is done simply by asking at the counter!
Thanks for your comments.
