Keepoing things very simple as an example...
IF A on death has 90K cash to split between three children X, Y, Z where each of those "owes" A
X 4K
Y 3K
Z 2K
how can A split up the cash between them so they all get an equal share, whilst reflecting what each has already had? Preferably as a mathematical equation for general purposes
Trying to get my head around it and failing!

Re: Inhereitance splits query
DFOh.,.. no sooner had I wrirtten it, I worked it out!
Total "owed" by kids =0K
so total to be distrinbuted = 90+9 = 99K
so each share is 33K LESS sum already benefitted from ie owed
So
A=33-4=29
B=33-3=30
C=33-2=31
Leaving the 90K perfectly distributable .
*phew).
And the generic answer being
Individual share = (Cash + (sum of debts)/number of sharers ) - individual debt
As you all were!
