Car rear window replacement

Mate's girlfriend had a rear window smashed to gain access to her car. If claiming on insurance will she have to pay the excess and lose her no claims discount?

If so, presumably better for her to not contact the insurers?

Any idea of cost?

Ask the specialists, you can get online quotes from some of them...

Worth checking (if not already done) if the policy treats windows as a separate thing. Some years ago my rear window was broken and replaced by Autoglass with a £60 excess and did not affect my no-claims bonus, or invoke the £500 excess on the main policy.

Probably helped that there was no theft, just the broken window likely caused (but never admitted) when the skip behind the car was removed.
