Following on from the previous, this is to poll on return dates into London.

Again, train travel may not be possible until after the New Year, because of planned shut downs.

To be honest, I don't think there really is one, railway engineering works, and holiday road works aside. On the roads, I'd guess the Thursday would be the busiest of the dates between Christmas day and the 1st. But the morning and evening rush hours won't be a patch on "normal". There may be localised traffic problems around popular retail parks.
Google maps lets you experiment with likely traffic volumes at different times/dates, if you get directions then change "leave now" and put in a specific date/time, then change the date/time to see if it makes any difference. It gives a ballpark range for the journey which can be quite wide, but will give you an idea.
