Just to say that if you try a FOAM mattress on a time-limited, trial and you have any suspicion that it might be a bit too hot for you, then make sure that you do the trial during the summer.

I started a trial on an Emma foam mattress*, in september. After a few weeks I told Emma to collect it.
It was comfortable, but a bit too hot ( even in the autumn ).

They offered me a "firm topper", for free, which might have helped with the overheating.
I was tempted to give that a go, but realised that the continued trial period would end during the winter.
I had no idea how the mattress would perform in the summer.

It was collected.

The IKEA one is arriving Monday, less than £200 so not a disaster if it's awful.

Hope it got delivered OK AC?

If so, we'll expect a full report in the morning, of course...

Sweet-dreams!!

Well, it arrived yesterday all vacuum packed in a roll. Seemed to fill out to full size quickly , but they reckon 72 hours before it's fully formed.
I'll give it a week before reporting on it, but had a reasonable night- certainly an improvement on a leaky airbed! Ir does smell a bit, but not overpowering or particularly unpleasant. Reminds of the smell of the reprographics/copier room at my old school, with the old 'spirit copiers' (Banda etc)
Looking at the Independent article I should perhaps have gone for medium firm rather than firm, as I'm a side sleeper. It's not rock hard though, and is currently on the floor as I haven't bought a bed yet (this will be chapter 2...) Assume a slatted bed base will increase the apparent softness.

Perhaps he gave up on us?!

Anyway, mattress is fine, but no bed yet... Don't want to rush these things.
