Who are candidates
I just did a search for my partner to find her council candidates. Every one-of the Torys is listed 'as local conservative' with an address as Cheshire East. Every other candidate lists their party and home address. Are they frit to use a northern word for frightened?

Re: Who are candidates
It might be that they are not really local. In quite a few places the Cons don't actually live in the wards they get put up for. So they hide it whilst still claiming to be local.
Or they might be frit in this instance. You could ask one if they knock on your door. Mind you I don't think the last one I invited in for a chat will be coming back anytime soon.

Re: Who are candidates
I have the opposite. The Tory candidate is the only one to publish an address - and it's genuinely within the ward.
Sadly I can't bring myself to vote for any of these options. Not even holding my nose.

Are you sure it is their home address, don't they usually put their agent's address?

Given it is a two member ward and addresses differ for other parties, with one exception where the candidates are related, I believe they are home addresses. Sensible thing to use home and not a party office as it shows how local the candidate is.

on a security note, it also tells the nutters where they live so maybe understandably they may be reticent to divulge that information etc ... ?

Re: Who are candidates
As it happens one of the Con candidates in my area actually spends a large part of the year in Malta, where he has residency.
Oddly enough he doesn't publicise that fact. I can't think why.

Re: Who are candidates
Just checked a sample of other Cheshire East wards. All of them have Conservative candidates listed as Conservative Party with a local address. So Conservatives in my friends ward looks very suspicious, listed as local Conservative with no local address.

Re: Who are candidates
Result now in 1&2 are independent 3&4 are the so called 'local conservatives' who did not list their address. So given the independent record in the ward it looks like the candidates I questioned were write in notional candidates to avoid a no show.
