DVLA road tax
in this age of ever more frequent scams..
I have today received an email saying my road tax (or whatever its now called) is due....click link etc etc
well it is in fact due at end November....usually I get a letter with refernces etc
but with Wales closed due to WFH and DVLA being in Wales
is this another 'cost saving'?
or can I expect a letter in due course?

Re: DVLA road tax
I haven't received paper notifications for a few years now but like you earlier this year I received notification over a month before expiry. I just ignored it at the time. Strangely when I did go to renew it failed as it said I did not have a valid mot. As the car was not 3 years old it was not a surprise. Booked an mot for when I got back from a trip and renewed later that day when mot appeared on their system a few days into the month.

Re: DVLA road tax
I had a paper notification just a few weeks ago and a paper reminder the day after I paid it.

Re: DVLA road tax
I had a paper reminder last time (May 21)
I was told by everyone that I would get a driving licence reminder but THAT did not happen
So perhaps check yours

Re: DVLA road tax
The official paper reminder is a V11 and contains a 16 digit code.
So provided you log in to the official DVLA web site (www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax) and use the 16 digit code you can tax your vehicle.

The reference number on the V5C can also be used (again and again).
The V11 only works for one renewal/SORN declaration.

Did you sign up for reminder texts? (Not sure if DVLA do it, but some third party companies do).
Were the links valid? I don't think links can be hidden in texts.
Scott.

Re: DVLA road tax
What email address does it come from? What URL does their link take you to?
Ignore the link in the email and go straight to the DVLA website:
https://www.gov.uk/vehicle-tax
Click "start now" to pay.
Obviously you should find that yourself and more trust my link!

You can't renew until the 5th of the month in which it expires. The letter is timed to arrive no earlier than the first day you can renew, so expect it on 5th November.
