Flu and COVID vaccinations for 58-year old me

Evening all
I was expecting a reminder to book my jabs before winter.
I'm pretty sure I got a free flu jab at Boots last year (at age 57), and I was also offered one at the local health centre. Checking online it seems that it's only those who are 65+ or vulnerable who get a flu jab on the NHS now. Have they changed the rules? I'll probably pay for one anyway.

Re COVID booster, I was expecting a phased rollout staring with the elderly and vulnerable then moving down to my age group. Looking at the NHS site it appears that the same eligibility criteria apply (65+/vulnerable/carer)
Is this the case? Can I get one privately?

As yet you cannot get a covid jab privately. You can pay for a flu jab from your local pharmacy through.

Yes - eligibilty for the free flu jab is 65+/vunerable. I paid £15 for a flu jab at Tesco although the price can vary depending on who's doing the jabbing!.

Has it changed? I definitely got one in Boot's last year and I'm pretty sure I didn't pay...

Yes, it has changed. The free flu jabs for under 65s were only in for a year or two.

Yes they changed the rules as you have noticed.

It was probably quite expensive and time consuming.

There is an even bigger backlog to get through not helped by further strikes. Maybe some will be able to stick to their day jobs instead of sticking every Tom, Dick and Harry.

In Scotland, over 60s got the flu one, and over 65s the Covid one.

Scott.

Aha, thanks all. Looks like I'll be paying for a flu jab, and taking my chances with COVID ....

As you've been taking your chances with Covid for at 12 months, nothing will change in that respect.

ISTR reading that over the year Covid was a bigger killer than flu, but in Winter Flu outstrips it quite considerably.

Actually I was even wronger than that, it is over 50s, as I posted myself back in August viewtopic.php?f=98&t=40218&p=608074#p608074
