DAK if the Fire 8 can read a book using Kindle Assisted Reader (not Audible) if you ask Alexa to read your Kindle book. The blurb says it behaves like an Alexa Dot, eg answering questions about the weather etc, so in theory it should, but has anyone got experience of this?

While I have never done so in anger, I've tried it on my kindle fire in the past, and it works.

As you say/imply Audible also works if you have both ebook and audiobook. I've herd that is good option if trying to learn a foreign language. Buy both and read while listening.
That obviously is not possible if the audiobook has not been produced.
