Kit furniture, but what is it?

Some years ago someone fly tipped near me a collection of pine pieces that's obviously some bit(s) of dismantled furniture. It was all in good condition so I took it into the garage thinking I'll figure it out later, or maybe I'll just use the wood for something anyway.

Well it's now later and I'm scratching my head as to what it was and how to put it back together again. I notice it has numbers on some of the pieces, so thinking it's an assembly-required something(s). Basically it consists of some sets of long pieces with holes and whole-length slots in them, each set a different length, and some sets of slats attached to cross pieces. The cross pieces do fit into the slots but don't have holes indicating that they were once screwed into through the holes in the slots. See https://imgur.com/a/bTODtM2

Possibly some sort of storage shelving with slatted shelves? The metal cross braces look very like some we had in a tall but quite slender self assemble shelving unit.

Looks like bits from an IKEA Ivar (or similar knockoff)

basically no frills modular shelving
- often found in weird configurations because it's a useful source of parts for "custom solutions"

Oh dear, oh dear. That's usually the first sign that you're turning into your father. I have a garage full of stuff that's going to be useful one day. Honestly it is. I mean, they make coffins out of chipboard, don't they?

(Having looked at the pictures, yeah, they can only be ultra-cheapo shelving. I don't think I'd want to do anything too serious with that timber. Fast-grown, poorly cut. Have you considered a career sideline making pallets?)

The cross brace does make me think it's something tall but the holes are too far apart to be an IKEA Ivar type of thing and the slots in the long pieces might indicate something more horizontal. I was hoping someone would recognise the red numbers in circles to give me a lead at least to the manufacturer......

Actually some of it has been used as a pallet to stack the obligatory collection of garage boxes on, along with the rest of it.

Well I still haven't figured it out. Think I'll just put it all up on Gumtree for a fiver....

In the meanwhile I'm looking for something similar to the IKEA IVAR, which would be ideal except that the shortest uprights (at 124cm) are too tall and the shelves either a bit too narrow (42cm) or far too wide (83cm). So not so ideal.

I did find https://shelvingsystem.co.uk/ but it's pretty expensive (e.g. a 50x50cm shelf costs £24).

So, anyone know of any IVAR type alternatives?

Assemble it as best as you can and saw off any bits that don't look like a rocking horse.

Uh? How do I cut that 83x50 down to a 50x50 without losing one end or the other (and the support). Ok, I could cut 33 out of the middle and then try and attach the two sides together but ......

Ah, we were talking at right angles to each other, I thought you were trying to make it thinner front-to-back.

Depends how pretty you want it, and how much weight to bear I guess...
