Was expecting a parcel yesterday morning, Royal Mail informed me to expect it somewhere between 11am and about 1:30pm, waited in but had to go out and sods law got an email shortly after to say the parcel had been delivered.
Got home, no package, went on the tracking tool which showed a picture as proof of delivery which had no package in it and which was mostly obscured by a finger, even so I could see it was my doorstep.
I rang the help line and got through to a very helpful lady who had a sort of resigned 'oh no not one of these again'. She agreed that there was indeed no package in the picture and I confirmed it was my front door step.
They've opened an investigation and I notice that the picture has now been taken down.
Anyone know what's going on here?

Re: Parcel theft or misadventure?
I think I would be contacting the provider to arrange another delivery and let them fight royal mail.
I'd like to make a "it only happened to you" royal mail joke but I won't
