Reporting unsuitable ads?

#251698

Postby EthicsGradient » September 13th, 2019, 8:24 pm

On some other forums I post on, the administrators have the ability to ask the ad server to block ads from companies they think are unsuitable for the site. I've got one now offering "Best Fixed Interest Bonds. Fixed Returns Between 8%-12%" which any experienced Fool will know is highly misleading at best (eventually, you'll find some small print saying "capital is at risk"), or could even be a scam; but a beginner looking for advice might get drawn in.

Would you like me to give you details (either in this thread or by private message)? Can you block ads, and is it worth us telling you about dubious ones?

Thanks. By all means give details. I think we can alter what ads appear to some extent, but Stooz looks after that kind of stuff.

It was for "wealthmanagement-investments.co.uk" , and the URL clicking on the ad would lead to (I didn't follow it) was - big breath:

In the past I reported an "unsuitable ad" to TLF. Not to put too fine a point on it - a fraudulent ad.

As far as I could see, the ad kept being served up. Ever since I have simply blocked all ads from TLF.

There is a play looking symbol next to the ads near the X . Click that and it asks you if you want to stop seeing this ad.

I don't get to see that ad!

My thinking at the time was: "Neither should anyone else".
