I'd be tempted to hold on a little longer.

The broker's concensus is quite strong (FWIW!). So, hopefully there is enough momentum to drive up the shareprice and then decide. A tough decision.
It's not as though air travel and industry are fully open yet neither. Oil has ramped to ~$90 per b.

I just wish I had bought mid 2020.

Thanks monabri. Food for thought. I have time to think on it. I haven't got my money back just yet. Need around 2000p. Then there's the thought of where do you reinvest the proceeds of a sale? Shell is part of my income generating portfolio. Any replacement has to come with a decent-ish yield. Cheers.

There Q4 and full year results are due next week - 3rd Feb. So might be worth waiting to see how they are received and also the dividend declared.

So Royal Dutch is now Shell plc even if at least in my Interactive Investor ISA they have disappeared for now. I presume they will appear in their new guise later today. Will they or won't they have a new ticker?

Today is the first day of trading as a single line of shares, removing the RDSA and RDSB difference, hence my wondering if they will have a new ticker. At least they will be removing one of RDSA or RDSB.

I understand the ticker is eventually changing to SHEL.

Thanks to both. So SHEL it is. Farewell to the Dutch connection, seems a shame after all these years. The Dutch must be wondering what they did wrong to lose both Shell and Unilever in such short order.

Bit of a nasty shock when I checked my ISA over the weekend
RDSB had disappeared and SHEL wasn't showing a value, so it looked like my protfolio had dropped signficantly!!
Now trading so everything back to what passes as 'normal'

Now showing fine in both II and HSDL this morning, though HSDL seem to have a price in the 1600s compared to II which shows it in the 1800s. Maybe I just misread the price. I'd expect the 1800s going by the last closing price.

Now all I have to do is update my version of the HYPTUSS (v 11.52) spreadsheet so it picks up shell (so far it fails, but the data supplier may not be upto date yet).

Must be my eyesight then. Just added the ticker SHEL to my alerts list for Investegate and it picks up Shell Transport and Trading. Seem to work though as it picks up:

31 Jan 2022 7:00 am GNW Shell announces first day of trading of single line of ordinary shares
20 Jul 2005 8:00 am RNS Cancellation-Shell T&T Co Plc

as the latest announcements. :D

Shell looks like a decent buy - PE of around 8, Price to Sales of 0.9, Price to FCF of 8. 25bn in free cash flow. COVID concerns are mostly behind us and oil will be needed for at least a decade (most likely longer) .

Very nice to see Shell closing in on 2000p again. I think today's rally was in sympathy to ExxonMobil. Hoping for very strong results here later in the week 8-)

Sorry to be direct but you sure are a Learninginvestor if, having seen the Shell price rise over the last few weeks the way it has, you now consider Shell a decent buy. It was a much more decent buy around September last year when you could have bought it for about 25% less than now and also on a much better yield. Anyway we will see what their results look like on Friday.

Fair enough view, are you looking " to buy ", " top up" or ...? It's your first post so welcome!

They were even a better buy when Covid19 hit us all. I topped up my holdings four times that year, and my BP. holdings too. Both had become so overweight in my HYP in capital value terms that I recently trimmed both back. Happy to hold them, but I'm not a buyer currently.

I think the Shell 4th quarter results are out today? The Shell CEO is due to be interviewed on Bloomberg shortly apparently.

Ian.
