Thanks, Ian but I don't have time to read a book a.t.m. However, a quick look at the s.p. tells me it's up nearly 2.45% so far today which will do for the time being. How I miss notifications from TLF. When will that problem get sorted, I wonder?

You're welcome Lorna, and I hope you're well.

As to the notification thing you could always report your own post and ask the TLF powers that be?

Ian.

Trading Statement

Full price sales during November and December have been better than we anticipated.

In the nine weeks to 30 December, full price sales1 were up +5.7% versus last year. This was £38m better than our previous guidance of +2.0% for the period.

We have increased our full year profit before tax guidance by £20m to £905m, up +4.0% versus last year. Of the £20m increase, £17m came from the sales beat to date and £3m comes from an upgraded forecast for full price sales in January.

Not sure why the dividend requires special mention, Ian. Current yield is 2.4% and the YoY dividend increase was 1p or 0.5%. Next is not an income share.

I realise you don’t hold, but for those that do, the dividend is probably the least interesting piece of information in the whole 101 pages of the results. The Next results are always a highlight because of their comprehensive nature and the commentary by Lord Wolfson on how the business is doing accompanied with detailed financial guidance for the year ahead. No other company gets close to the exemplary reporting of Next. And even if you’re not invested in Next you should check out the chart at the bottom of page 6 and wonder why you’re not.

Just had a look and over 15 years Next dividend has increased at a compounded 10% annually and in that period has regularly been available at over 4% yield. There were 2 chunky specials to catch up for the Covid income interruption, in the past year the price has increased by about 25%. Must have been 20 odd years ago that I first looked at Next since then the price is up 10 fold.
