Intention to Change Name - Standard Life Aberdeen plc to become Abrdn plc

Standard Life Aberdeen plc ("the Company") today announces its intention to change its name to "Abrdn plc". The new Abrdn name (pronounced "Aberdeen") will be part of a modern, agile, digitally-enabled brand that will also be used for all the Company's client-facing businesses globally.

The new brand identity marks the next stage in the reshaping of the business and future-focused growth strategy. The Company is focused on three interrelated growth vectors: global asset management (Investments), technology platforms for UK financial advisers and their customers (Adviser), and UK savings and wealth (Personal).

No mention of the ticker.

Fiddling while Rome burns.

If it is 'pronounced Aberdeen' why not spell it that way? Are vowels incompatible with being 'modern, agile, digitally-enabled'?

I expect consultants were paid huge sums to come up with this - and management swallowed it.

Thinking of changing my name to Scrjk to reflect how modern and digitally-enabled I am. All I need to do is find some consultants to charge me £20 million to sort out the details :D :D

SELL!

If the Board think this is a good idea then this is a huge warning sign.

Best wishes

Mark.

Sadly the time to sell was probably about three years ago. I have never held.

“I can’t tell you the exact costs, but it was not a lot of money to develop the identity,” said Standard Life Aberdeen's chief executive Stephen Bird"

From a tweet (Bird, tweet...see what I did there :) )

A ...ok
B ...ok
E ...nah!
R ...ok
D
E

N...ok

(I couldn't be "arsd" filling it in or rather, I'm too modern and digitally enabled).

Not a lot of money....!?..

Haven't they just got rid of all the standard life bit - maybe they should call themselves Aberdeen Asset Management :D

That crossed my mind too. The problem is that that is the name of a subsidiary already and it may be too complicated to change, and why not go for a snappy new group name while they are it...say.....Abrdn.........or maybe AAM?

Selling all the Standard Life and the name is why they are having to change the name of the parent company.

I saw the advertisement in The Telegraph today for the rebranded company.

https://www.abrdn.com/corporate

Good to know they are "Operating across three vectors that reflect how our clients interact with us, abrdn has the full ecosystem of capabilities to enable our clients to be better investors.".

Vectors, ecosystems.?!

or possibly 'The abrdn Scottish Open'. They seem unsure about the initial capital letter.

A few red faces, maybe? The name change, as you highlight Dod, is all in lower case (see the RNS..link above).

I don't like the name abrdn or the phrase 'growth vectors'.
