Not gone down well with the market as down 4.5% when I looked this morning compared to same time yesterday

First quarter new business profit up 11 per cent (excluding economic impacts)

Performance highlights on a constant (and actual) exchange rate basis for the three months ended 31 March 2024

· First quarter 2024 new business profit up 11 per cent excluding economic impacts to $810 million diversified across our geographical markets. After allowing for economic impacts, new business profit was broadly unchanged at $726 million.

· First quarter APE sales were up 7 per cent (4 per cent) to $1,625 million. The business showed continued momentum despite strong comparators in Hong Kong and CPL (described below) and headwinds in Vietnam.

Yes they keep saying everything is wonderful and on plan, but never mention the appalling share price performance since they split off M&G and then Jackson Financial. Pru was meant to be the high growth, low divi bit and M&G and Jackson the no growth bits.

The actual outcome has been the opposite - the Pru sp has halved whilst Jackson has trebled (plus paying high divis).

The 'clever' Pru management of course sold off all their Jackson shares, once demerged, before the Jackson sp trebled.

It does not give me much confidence in the Pru's management!

And I made the mistake of selling the Jackson Life shares that were demerged to me shortly after receiving them (as they were listed in the USA). Now wish I'd kept them. I bought more MNG, and they are showing a 71% gain since owning them. Yes I thought the rump of PRU shares in the up and coming far east market would be the growth shares and would be producing capital gains and not dividend income.
