Re: WISE (WISE)
I recently came across two other pieces of news about Wise and its founder, one today, and one back in 2021:
https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/wise- ... 41509.html
https://www.thisismoney.co.uk/money/mar ... fined.html
Wise co-founder Hinrikus partners for €250 million tech fund:
Co-founder of fintech business Wise Taavet Hinrikus has founded Plural a new €250 million (£216 million) investment platform aimed at backing a new generation of tech start-ups and digital entrepreneurs.
Other founders of the group include Songkick businessman Ian Hogarth, tech investor Khaled Heloui and co-founder of start-up locations app Teleport, Sten Tamkivi.
The company is looking at early stage funding rounds up to €10 million and was set up as across Europe “investors lacked experience of building tech businesses” and that “scar tissue from building tech companies is invaluable”, according to the company.
Hinrikus said: “We’re the investors we would have liked to have when we were building our own companies. Founding a company is a craft and the best way to learn that craft is to work alongside those who have done it before.”
https://uk.finance.yahoo.com/news/wise- ... 41509.html
The billionaire boss of money transfer group Wise has been fined hundreds of thousands of pounds for intentionally defaulting on his taxes.
Kristo Kaarmann was charged £365,651 by HMRC for a deliberate default during 2017/18 on a £720,495 tax bill, the Telegraph reported.
This type of penalty means the Estonian entrepreneur has either been found to have deliberately provided inaccurate documents to HMRC, intentionally failed to comply with an obligation to notify HMRC about his circumstances or committed wrongdoing in relation to VAT or excise.

Re: WISE (WISE)
Shares in payments transfer business Wise are up 14% this morning after the company posted a sharp rise in revenues and customer transactions.
Sales in the first quarter grew 51% compared with the previous year to hit £186 million, a greater proportion of transaction values than in previous quarters.
As many as five million Wise customers transacted over £24 billion across borders in the three months to June 2022, a year-on-year increase of 37%, driven by an expansion in the number of customers from the US and Brazil.
More than 50% of customer cross-border transfers are now completed instantly, up 36% from the first quarter, while 90% are completed within 24 hours.
The Shoreditch-based firm said it expected to see revenue growth of 30-35% in the next financial year, with 20% growth over the medium term.

Forecast results looking good. Interest rate rises flatter the results but still showing significant rises in number of customers and core revenue.
Analysts briefing (needs registration) at 9am.
I hold.
Best wishes,
Steve

Re: WISE (WISE)
Interim Results - very good and helped by higher interest rates. Are buying back shares to compensate for dilution from employee share remuneration. Well received by the market.

Re: WISE (WISE)
I can’t find any reason that these have risen 3% today.
Just about back to the launch price
As it happens I’ve rather increased my holding at markedly lower prices and am now showing a healthy profit.
If they go much higher, say £11+, I’ll trim. These have always been a bit of an oddity for me as I’m mainly large caps, ITs and ETFs.
I wonder whether a big financial institution could be sniffing around?
Best wishes, Steve
