McMafia?
Anybody else tried it?
Were you as disappointed as I was?
To me it has to be one of the worst things that the Beeb has done for many a year. Slow, nobody I could give a damn about and nothing much happened.

Watched a couple, but not sure if I'll keep up with it.
I can't take Alex seriously. He's not got a poker face, which I think we're meant to be admiring him for. He simply looks, well, dull......Someone said he's in for the next Bond role. Please no......
I think they've already killed off the most interesting character, Alex's uncle. I was really warming to him, and as you say, everyone else is just so uninteresting.....
Nice locations though........about right for the BBC sometimes.....
Cheers,

Re: McMafia?
Though it was awful. The acting was so wooden and dialogue cringey. 1 ep was enough for me. Shame because the true story it's based on could be a good TV by the sounds of it. Needs much better execution though. Utterly baffled by the rave reviews I keep hearing on the radio.

Re: McMafia?
Had to look it up to see where the name derived from. I thought it might be about the Glasgow underworld, ice cream wars or suchlike.

Still, nice to see Eddie Jordan getting some acting work.
(Persevering at the moment as there's nowt much else on)

Re: McMafia?
Just watched the last episode and I have to say that it gets better and the last couple of episode are really excellent.
The "wooden" acting becomes more nuanced as the story progresses and one could argue that it is indicative of the repressed nature of the main characters rather than an acting flaw.
Stanislavski is alive and well and living in a mews house in Kensington.

I thought it was very poor overall. The writing was poor, the UK acting was poor, and the plot was overly contrived.
The Russian parts were played really well, however, and they blew away the UK representatives in the acting stakes.
Still, lots of nice locations for the BBC crew....
