Last week one of the places we visited was Siena. We rented an apartment in the centre of town, and it had a bedroom constructed on the rooftop, with amazing views over the town and the countryside beyond.

I took this panoramic photo from the middle of the room. Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any way to enlarge it to see the detail, but it gives some idea of the view.

With Firefox and the Imageview addon, if I right click the image and select View Image, I can then right click and select the level of zoom I want.
If I do it in the message it distorts.

Good pic.

What bike is it, sorry I know zero about bike specs. Just it looks like a pretty 'mature'/comfy ride, something I've considered perhaps getting for the future i/o a 2nd car :)

I hope a short video-link is acceptable on this picture-thread. Hopefully anyone who views it will agree that a still picture would never have given this amazing phenomena any sort of justice...

Cheers,

I found this great link a few days ago and thought I'd post it here -

100 Photographs - The Most Influential Images of All Time

Explore the stories behind 100 images that changed the world, selected by TIME and an international team of curators.

http://100photos.time.com/

I'm sure lots of the famous photographs shown will have been seen by many here, although I'm sure there will be some surprised for the majority of photo buffs, but to also have this collection available on one page, with an accompanying story to each of them when they are individually examined, is a great way to spend some time during these dark and cold nights.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I have, although please be warned that some are really quite poignant.

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

It may be just my PC playing up but I'm getting a "502 Bad Gateway" message.

No CK, it's not your PC as I'm also now seeing the same error on the site.

Hopefully it'll sort itself out soon enough, as it's a really interesting link.

I'll keep my eye on it and report back when I spot it working.

Cheers,

I also get the bad gateway but on googling for the block of text you quoted in italic found them okay

The url still looks identical to the one in the post

http://100photos.time.com/

But it still gives a bad gateway, blast it!

Just to let everyone know that the above link (http://100photos.time.com/) seems to be working again now, and is well worth spending an hour on with a glass of something nice.

The Edgerton one's interesting -

Edgerton was a founder of EG&G (Edgerton, Germeshausen, and Grier) who did a lot of 'government work including the atomic weapons programme and 'black projects'

For sale sign on it :D Looks creepy, doesn't it ? :) I have no idea how old it is and what the hell the architect was thinking :D

Wow look at that. Unfortunately the listing seems to have disappeared from their books. Perhaps a Lemon swooped on it? ;)
I'd be interested to know a bit more of it's history. I'd have a guess at 1967-72, a play-boy hill-top den of iniquity :P

From what I can find, it's in Linguaglossa in Sicily.

Designed in the 70s

A snip at €100,000.

Wow, thanks, it's on Mt. Etna in Sicily :) I'm going to send the listing/pictures to an architect friend, I expect he'll enjoy seeing it.
