I downloaded an email from a friend today and consequently I am unable to do anything.
It starts up and laods mailwash and Kaspersky screen asking for the master password,.
When I enter the Master Password I get t=an incorrect password despite changing it on the My Kaspersky website.
Also my mouse will not operate.

All help gratefully received.

Try starting in safe mode.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/hel ... -safe-mode

Provided Windows loads, launch Defender and perform a full system scan.

You mention Kaspersky - do you have this installed as well?

If your keyboard is working press ALT + Left SHIFT + NUM LOCK at the same time to bring up a "mouse substitute" (Mouse Keys program) using the numeric keypad. (That's Windows 7 rather than 10, but I assume it's still there)

You can usually navigate directly from the keyboard too. Tab moves you to the next input field, Shift+Tab moves you backward through the fields, space can be used like a click to mark a box. Hold down the Alt key and if the name of an input field gets one of its letter underlined, continuing to hold down Alt and pressing that letter selects that field.

There are others, like the WinKey or Ctrl-Esc that brings up the Windows Start menu. With a bit of ingenuity you can do everything that a mouse can do just with the keyboard.

... a situation may arise when the mouse stops functioning or you need to work on a computer without one. The following sections contain many key combinations used to navigate Windows using your keyboard...

I've managed to boot the machine up in safe mode and its asking to be connected to the internet.
However I still have the navigation problem - no mouse.
I have to go out now and won't be back until late when i will log in again.

Do you have another computer to check the mouse?

Try a different mouse.

Presume it's connected to the USB port?
