I take it you've seen the vid of that concert posted on Youtube - quite something :) Late '78 was the first of many times I saw them play*, though IIRC the first 3-4 times were all at the Rainbow Theatre in Finsbury Park. One time I recall being puzzled how the vast fire curtain across the stage was full of holes - apparently Sham69 had played the previous week and the fans had thrown bottles through it.

Speaking of 'Wish I was there' an American colleague of mine in the 90s went to Woodstock - the original - and again he'd he circa 13-14 at the time. And coincidentally making a Hendrix-connection another old friend of mine had been at the eponymous Isle of Wight festival of 1970.

* v similar age to you FWIW.

Yes, I've watched the various bits of footage on YouTube many times - not sure if there's a complete concert video floating around anywhere.
They sound very good - as it hasn't (to my knowledge) been released commercially i'm assuming no overdubs etc

John

Imgur might be banned by Parental controls. I use Vodafone's "safe" setting and had to add imgur.com to the allowed sites list. It took me about three days to see the dog picture.

I also had to add archive.org so I could find archived posts from TMF.

Um. I think I *was* there! I would have been 10. But, I thought I was more like 14 when I saw them so I might be wrong. And I thought it was Hyde Park, so again, maybe wrong.

It was (I'm nearly sure about this bit) Rock Against Racism, so maybe it was a different thing? But we gatecrashed. And the stage exploded with fake smoke and I was really scared (due to the IRA threat at the time putting the wind up us all) and I fainted so we had to leave!

Different gig I think - Stranglers at Battersea headlined with Peter Gabriel and The Skids as support

Scotland from a different viewpoint.

I see thisalmost daily on the weather news, and I often use google maps so I see it there too.

But the different angle that we are viewing from makes this photograph something special for me.

Note how the snow capped mountains north of Glen Mor stand out? You just don't appreciate that from a flat satellite image.

On the bright side it seems like Photobucket is still working for now.

Looks lovely -grey and drizzly down here, and about 10C cooler then last Saturday.
Is it too early to start drinking?

Fab pic Snorvey, a +1 didn't seem enough, I'd have been thrilled to have taken that pic!
[The alignment/mis-alignment vs the beach on the horizon is the bonus feature for me, clever/'simple', love it.]

Great pix Snorvey. I'm so out of the loop on digital photography these days... a question. To what extent are you cropping these as the compositions are great, and yet the resolution is still pin-sharp?
I also had to laugh/blink at 'Sigma 50-500mm, Tamron 18-200mm'. Back when I was an aspiring serious photographer [80s] those brands were snootily looked down on by 'serious photographers'. [Either way, barring the 50mm lens I had the others were all Tamron. I don't think I could afford what wld then have been considered better back then]. But those ranges 50-500, 18-200, that's insane! Has this been achieved via progress in physical lens element technology/production, or on the back of digital capture?
