I think it is, PD, if you are prepared to stay up that late just to be disappointed.

The night was young. ;)

I could have waited for the Goods News email from Ernie, received today at 15:26.

With reference to checking for large prizes or being notified of them, I really wouldn't waste my time even thinking about it - if it happens, it will be an incredible stroke of luck to be greeted with absolute astonishment! I tend to just see my holding for what it is - a safe haven for some cash generating a few hundred quid a year (tax free), sometimes beating a savings account, sometimes losing. Of course, someone has to win big, but:

According to the MSE calculator, your chance of winning even just £1000 or more in one month (holding 50000 Premium Bonds) is 1 in 774 - or once in 64.5 years of draws. The chances of £2500 or more is 1 in 8296 (691 years).

It would be fair to say, though, that if you'd been patient and held since the dawn of civilisation (around 8000 years ago?), you would be justified in feeling a little aggrieved if you'd gone all that time without a month where you'd won at least £50000. :)

This month I have won £25 on an £18000 holding. That makes £75 in 2.5 years. Not good.

It's humour, I believe, or maybe irony.

Thanks for the reminder, I knew you'd be catching up. £25 again for me (it would be vulgar to mention the £100,000).

Quite a strange month this month. My wife and I both have the max: she won nothing at all, and I won 7 x £25, the most I've had in a month.

Scott.

So... A perfectly normal month, then? ;)

£25 two months running. At last I am winning something even though the rate of return is pitiful.
