I'm currently in a phase of "If it ain't John Lee Hooker it ain't no good". If you're having a christmas party, you have to play this for a boogie:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tnPnrtKn9fY
And if you prefer rock and roll boogie, there's always this Tom Petty classic:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fa5vlMlU95Q
Better (dare I say it) than the original. And brilliant piano.

'Tubes - White Punks On Dope (1977 R0X M1X)'
Wiki:
'White Punks on Dope
White Punks on Dope, abbreviated as WPOD, is a 1975 song by San Francisco-based rock group The Tubes from their debut, eponymous album, produced by Al Kooper. The song was written by the band's dual lead guitarists, Bill Spooner and Roger Steen with Michael Evans. It has been called “absurd anthem of wretched excess,” ridiculing the rich and famous offspring of Hollywood elite. The song became the group's rock anthem and spectacular closing number to their elaborate stage shows. The band developed a cult-like fan base that has followed them for decades.[1]
Known for frequent costume changes, the group's lead singer Fee Waybill plays the character of Quay Lewd, a take off on Quaalude, a drugged out British rock star wearing two-foot tall platform shoes, a feather boa and a long blonde wig. In his early career as a choreographer, Kenny Ortega would add elements to try to make every show more spectacular. There were explosions, smoke, chainsaws and a daredevil aerial artist. Among the barely-dressed dancers and characters were Jane Dornacker and Pearl E. Gates. Even up and coming local actor/comedian Robin Williams auditioned for the show.[2][3]
While it was considered too politically incorrect to receive much airplay in the United States, two years later the single reached #28 on the British charts.'

It's quite sobering to see how much kinder age has been to Mr Jagger than it was to Hr Hill. Ernie was in his delivery crate by age 68, whereas Mick looks fitter at 75 than some 35 year olds I could name. Wrinkly, but he'd dance most people into the floor.
I recently saw the Stones' Olé Olé Olé (about a South American tour in 2016), and whatever it is that those guys have been snorting for the last sixty-odd years, it ought to be on the National Health. Astounding.

Re: Just Some Nice Music Thread Here...Post it Here...
Pretty deep English progressive rock, and as you might expect the track goes through various phases of style within an overall whole.
'Gentle Giant - Octopus Medley - Live in London 1974'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyDf57U ... ubs_digest
'Gentle Giant were an English progressive rock band active between 1970 and 1980. The band were known for the complexity and sophistication of its music and for the varied musical skills of its members. All of the band members, except Malcolm Mortimore, were multi-instrumentalists. Although not commercially successful, they did achieve a cult following.[1]
The band's onetime stated aim was to "expand the frontiers of contemporary popular music at the risk of becoming very unpopular",[2] although this stance was to alter significantly with time.
Gentle Giant's music was considered complex even by progressive rock standards, drawing on a broad swath of music including folk, soul, jazz, and classical music. ' [continues]

Are you for real!!!?
No really? I've a friend who was at Woodstock, another who saw Hendrix at the Isle of Wight, and so on + on. [Both, genuinely/no crap].
But I've never met anyone who saw the Tubes, that is seriously cool!

Another U.S. state-themed lineup, but this time the Lone Star State is the focus. Texas has produced an amazing variety of music over the years, this just scratches the surface.

Jan Akkerman again [ex Focus etc], This absolutely stunning piece of guitar work. From contemplative and slow, switching to faster and more technical. Dazzling finger-picking. From [?] almost contemplative soul to lively modern jazz all in 4 minutes. No wonder he's ranked as a 'World's best top-10 guitarist'

'Jan Akkerman Solo'
[This was him doing a one-man interlude at the front of the stage, whilst the rest of his band that night went off for a break].

Saw them live in a bar on 6th Street in Austin in 1993(?). A very fine evening indeed.

And another, from the past 10 years (I believe).

'Jan Akkerman - Love Is Uneven'
Progressive undertones, contemporary over it.
I love how he paces the guitar, it ebbs and flows, and man does he get 'technical' when it's called for, the precision and yet feeling is just spot on.

I was looking for a rubber band this morning and this song-title wafted into my head. This pm I Youtube'd it and good grief ['almighty!'] no wonder I remember it; it's epic! This recording is from the US show Midnight Special which was 100% live (vocals, band instruments + studio pit band).

And after Rubberband Man, Telegram Sam. Entirely different era and genre but it also wafted into my head and was there on waking [this is making me curious... what-ever next...]
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z_pm2wPR5u4 'Bauhaus - Telegram Sam'
Post-punk, ie New Wave c1980 at a guess, accomplished musicians to my ear now, not that unusual for the genre vs punk etc.

"Song of a Baker," Small Faces (1968)

Not the best-known song by this terrific band, but one of their very best, IMV. Excellent guitar work by Steve Marriott on the break and impressive drumming by Kenney Jones.
